Soul Hair has a ‘highly qualified’ hair colourist on board, namely Sarah Stead. Sarah has just completed the prestigious Colour Congress Course gaining a Masters in colour. The wella master colour award is wellas highest qualification that can be gained in colour and has been recognized to be the equivalent to any other university degree. It covers absolutely everything a hair colourist will ever need to know in application, product knowledge, and the science behind the colour. They even look at how the eyes work and how we see colour. There is a scientific aspect to it that far exceeds any other colourist course available.
Colour expert, Sarah has been invited to the Colour Congress held at Wella studios. Only those that have gained their Masters in Colour with Wella can be invited to this prestigious annual event.
It’s a great opportunity for Masters in colour graduates to catch up with other members and get a firsthand look at the future trends before general release. Sarah will be attending the colour congress in February and always looks forward to the demonstrations from the guest artists and adapting it to bring back to the salon.
As a colour expert technician it was always a dream of Sarah’s to do this course and it has proven to be invaluable and defiantly, according to Sarah, “the hardest thing she has ever done”.
How it all began for Sarah
Sarah started hairdressing when she was 18 years old. She began working for a lovely lady who put her on the floor, colouring hair almost instantly, before she even began to attend college one day a week. When she started cutting hair at college she realised her true calling was in colouring and she dreamed of becoming a colour expert.
After finishing college, Sarah knew that to progress in this field, she needed to work for a bigger company. At Soul Hair she discovered a first class salon with a training program and career path, so she was then able to fulfil her ambition to become a specialist colour technician.
Sarah herself tells us….
“I love this time of year in the salon after the Christmas rush. It’s the month following our reviews so we plan our years training, that is for courses we will be attending externally and in house. We will be viewing new trends, techniques and products we have for the year and also all the competition. When competition applications arrive through the door, there is always a real creative buzz about the salon and everyone gets involved. I love the ongoing training that hairdressing brings. I learn something new almost daily and it’s so lovely to watch the salon junior’s progress and gain confidence, especially when I am able to share tips and knowledge.”
